Mom of Toddler Stays Calm, Saves Life with CPR
Most of us look forward to family get-togethers and celebrations, never thinking that the happiness of such good times could be stolen in an instant. But that’s what almost happened to Amy Steelman and her two-year-old, Hannah, at a birthday party for Amy’s grandmother in Norman, Oklahoma in August 2010.

Advocate Spotlight: Anand Raghunathan
While having lunch one August day after hours of playing a rousing game of Ultimate Frisbee, Anand Raghunathan began to display bouts of confusion and irritability to his friends. After unsuccessful attempts to reason with him, his friends decided to seek medical attention when they realized there may be something seriously wrong.

Deb Wells
Deb Wells was caught by surprise when she suffered a stroke in 1998 while on a business trip with her husband in Maui. Seven years after the stroke, she was finally diagnosed with sick sinus syndrome, and has since had two pacemakers implanted. Deb is grateful every day to be alive and shares her personal story often as a You’re the Cure advocate.

Volunteer Spotlight: Rain or Shine, Our Volunteers Rock!
Typically, we spotlight one volunteer who has gone above and beyond for the mission of the American Heart Association. This month we find ourselves with a group of Heart Walk volunteers in Oklahoma that showed up and showed out to help the AHA build a community free of cardiovascular disease and stroke regardless of the weather that put a cloud over the Sooner State!
