We Can Save Lives this Heart Month
February 1st marks the beginning of American Heart Month. Reflecting on the start of Heart Month, we are reminded of a sad statistic. Hundreds of thousands of people will suffer sudden cardiac arrest this year, but unfortunately only about 10% survive.

Menthol Event Recap
On January 18th, advocates, civil rights leaders and medical professionals joined the African American Tobacco Control Leadership Council’s “Menthol Funeral” to bury menthol cigarettes for good. In the freezing cold and snow, they joined the voices calling on the White House to end the sale of menthol cigarettes and flavored cigars, and to finally end Big Tobacco’s predatory targeting of the Black community.

On January 24th, the Ohio Senate voted to override the governor’s veto of a bill that prevents local governments from protecting the health and well-being of their communities from Big Tobacco.
