On Thursday, October 17th, 242 volunteer advocates - cardiovascular disease patients, survivors, caregivers, researchers and others - from 48 states took to Capitol Hill and met with 249 House and Senate offices.

American Heart Association Oklahoma Advocates Gary and Elaine Bulmer, Amy Baden, and Monica Gonzales met with staff and policy aides from Senator Inhofe's, Senator Lankford's, Representative Horn's, and Representative Cole's offices.  We had a great day on the Hill promoting and advocating for heart-healthy policies, including a National Institute of Health funding increase of $2.5 billion - which would help expand stroke and heart disease research, banning e-cigarette flavors to keep our kids safe from the deadly effects of tobacco and nicotine, and eliminating surprise medical billing.
