Obesity is a major risk factor for cardiovascular and other chronic diseases. Despite New Hampshire being rated one of the healthiest states in the country, we are battling our own obesity epidemic. The rate of overweight and obesity in our adult population is about 60%. And perhaps more startling, almost a third of NH children are also overweight. The American Heart Association knows obesity is a complex issue, both its causes and its remedies, and will require a multi-pronged approach to solve the problem.
