The Board met with 16 key legislative offices to build support and momentum for tobacco control, obesity prevention, and water access policies. Our volunteers shared crucial insight on the heart and brain health landscape from their experiences as physicians, survivors, caregivers and community leaders.  Afterward, we heard feedback from legislators that they were impressed by the dedication and passion of our Board Members.

Following the legislative meetings, our group met on the Senate Floor with Senator Scott Wiener from San Francisco.

In addition to their hard work at the Capitol last week, we are grateful that each of our Affiliate Board Members is a You’re the Cure Advocate. Polices often move quickly through the legislative process, and our You’re the Cure advocates take action in real-time, providing important insight just when legislators need to hear from constituents the most.  You too can become an advocate. Visit www.yourethecure.org and sign up with your voting address and email address. You’ll be connected to our Action Center where you can tweet, email, call and even send video messages directly to your elected officials regarding heart-health issues you care about.

Thanks again to our stellar Board of Directors and You’re the Cure Advocates across the state for the great work that is happening in Sacramento. When our voices take a stand for heart and brain health, wonderful things can happen!
