The American Heart Association| American Stroke Association will join with millions around the world on October 29 to shine a spotlight of the number 3 cause of death in New Jersey-stroke.

Stroke is the #2 cause of death in the world and every 2 seconds, someone on the planet has a stroke. But it doesn't have to be this way. Up to 80% of stroke may be preventable. In New Jersey, we are continuing to advocate for improvements to stroke care, but we encourage you to learn the signs and symptoms of stroke and to share them with your family, friends, neighbors and others.

The acronym "F.A.S.T" can help individuals remember the warning signs. It stands for:

F-Face Drooping
A-Arm Weakness
S-Speech Difficulty
T-Time to call 911

This year on October 29, please take a moment to educate your friends and loved ones about stroke in person and on social media using the hashtag #strokewontwaitnj.
