Where have you been all my life?

Why did I not know this before???

Ok, I have lived in the same town in Maine for going on 13 years.  I thought I knew all there was to know.  There are great restaurants, fun parks, a great college, wonderful stores etc.  I try to buy local when I can and am fortunate to live where I can walk to town.

Then,  why is it that I just found out about a little store, about half a mile away from my house, that makes the best lobster roll that I have ever had?!?  Really.  There is no ambiance.  It is a convenience store with a deli counter and the distinct smell of grease.  I noticed the lobster trap Christmas tree during the holidays, but never gave the store a second look.

However, a Facebook post by a friend looking for recommendations for out-of-town guests peaked my interest.

So, when I had out-of-town guests this weekend, I gave it a try.  What a great way to cap off the summer.  So delicious.

Now, it might seem a bit odd to write about such a decadent food on an American Heart Association blog, but this lobster roll had just a hint of mayonnaise and lobster is packed with vitamins and protein.  Of course, that is not the point.  The real take-away is that even when you think you know a place, there is always something new to learn.

That is how I feel about working for the AHA.  There is always a new and exciting medical advancement, policy idea or volunteer to meet.

So, if you want to get more involved in the advocacy efforts of the AHA, give me a call.  Maybe we can meet for a lobster roll.
