SNAP Incentive Programs double the value of SNAP benefits spent at participating farmers markets and grocery stores, helping people bring home more healthy fruits and vegetables while supporting local farmers. Funding these programs offer a multitude of benefits to Mississippians: low-income families have an opportunity to eat more healthy food, local farmers gain new customers and make more money, and more food dollars stay in Mississippi, boosting local economies. For example, every $5 spent on SNAP Incentives puts $9 back into local economies!
We are working with individuals and organizations across the state to pass legislation during the 2021 Legislative Session that would seek to allocate $750,000 annually to authorized retailer incentive programs to support and sustain SNAP Incentive Programs. Mississippi families, health, and local economies grow when Mississippi invests in SNAP incentives.
