Wear Red Day at the New Mexico Capitol, 2015

On Tuesday, February 3rd American Heart Association advocates convened at the New Mexico Roundhouse to support National Wear Red Day and advocate for lifesaving stroke care legislation.

Advocates were recognized in the House Gallery during a Memorial resolution, met with legislative leaders on the House floor, and had a special visit with New Mexico Health Secretary Retta Ward.  We would like to thank Secretary Ward and our legislative sponsors (Senator Howie Morales and Representative Nora Espinoza) for their support on this day.

In addition to promoting National Wear Red day, volunteers advocated in favor of Senate Bill 81.

This legislation will ensure that regional EMS authorities develop transport plans to effectively treat and deliver stroke patients.

When a stroke occurs every second matters. Time lost is brain lost. We strongly endorse this legislation because it will help get stroke patients the fast treatment and quality of care that is so essential.
