We need your help Dec. 3rd

Did you know that 80% of tobacco users started with a flavored tobacco product? Flavors, including menthol, makes tobacco products more pleasant.

We all know that traditional cigarettes have nicotine – the addicting component of tobacco – in them, but nearly all e-cigarettes do too. Scientific studies show that no tobacco product that contains nicotine is safe for youth use as brains are still developing until age 25!

Multnomah County Commissioners are debating what they can do to help protect the youth of the county from addictive tobacco products. They are considering removing all flavored tobacco products, including menthol and e-cigarettes, from the market. The commissioners need to hear from community members about why passing this public health ordinance is so important for the county. The recent influx of e-cigarettes has caused schools to take drastic action, some having to take doors off bathrooms to stem the use during class! Please attend and share your story or have your child share theirs to help us pass this important policy. AHA staff if here to help you prepare in any way we can! Contact [email protected] for more information, help with testimony or questions about how all this works.
