The American Heart Association's fiscal year ends on June 30. With that, two members of our state advocacy committee's tenure is coming to a close.

First, we'd like to thank our chair, Toni Richardson, for her three years of service. Toni (pictured on the left) is “action in a bottle” willing to get involved at any level for any purpose, if it will move the needle forward on Heart initiatives. She makes calls decision makers, writes letters to the editor, presents our policy agenda to legislative delegations and meets one-on-one with legislators to advocate for better heart health. Now, Toni will be laser-focused to help her daughter Taylor with high school and pre-college preparation, as Taylor prepares for her life goal of becoming an astronaut.
Another great contributor to our State Advocacy team is Jabari Paul, who is also completing his three-year term. Jabari has provided high-level, discreet input on a variety of issues. As an advocate himself, Jabari knows the difficulties inherent in the legislative process and works diligently to assist the American Heart Association in moving its agenda forward.
We thank Toni and Jabari for their service and dedication to helping Floridians build healthier lives free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.
