Currently, five states have increased the tobacco sales age from 18 to 21, including California, Hawaii, Maine, New Jersey, and Oregon. Additionally, over 300 localities have as well including New York City, Boston, Chicago, San Antonio and Cleveland. The tobacco sales age is 21 in over 70 percent of MA and over 60 percent of New York state. Connecticut also is working hard to increase the tobacco sales age to 21. Efforts are currently underway in both Hartford and New Haven to do so as well. We will keep you completely looped in as opportunities arise for interested advocates to get involved!
