Join Us for the Move More Challenge
While things are starting to get back to normal we aren't able to hold our annual Heart Walk this year so instead we'd like to invite you to join us in the Move More Challenge throughout the month of July. The Move More Challenge is a fun and meaningful way to celebrate heart and stroke survivors, raise lifesaving funds and encourage physical activity.
Starting on July 1 and running throughout the month, Move More Challenge participants and teams are encouraged to get physically active at home or around their neighborhoods. Here are a few fun activities to consider:
- Take a walk outside or come up with other fun ways to move more while at home;
- Get the whole family involved and have an indoor dance party;
- Try out a few strengthening exercises like push-ups, lunges and squats;
- Create an at home circuit workout;
- Learn the basics of “Hands-Only” CPR online;
- Get nutrition tips and try kid-friendly heart-healthy recipes.
To register, visit www.HIHeartWalk.org. From there, participants can stay up to date by downloading the Heart Walk mobile app and encourage friends and family to join in via e-mail or on social media. During the event, everyone is encouraged to post pictures and videos to document their activity using #HIHeartWalk and virtually connect with other participants.
Lead sponsors for the 2021 Hawaii Heart Challenge include: Kalaeloa Partners; AlohaCare; First Insurance Company of Hawaii; Island Insurance; Hawaii Pacific Health; and Hawaii News Now. The funds raised from the Heart Challenge go towards research, advocacy, CPR training and to promote better health. Visit www.HIHeartWalk.org to learn more.

Help Us Stop Tobacco in Arizona
We must stop HB 2682 which claims to protect public health but actually does the opposite. What it does do is prevent cities and towns across Arizona from protecting our kids by stopping communities from enacting their own policies on the sale and marketing of dangerous, addictive tobacco products.

Colorado State Legislative Session Wrap Up
The 73rd Colorado General Assembly adjourned Sine Die on June 8th. This was a month later than the typical close of session due to the legislature taking a recess from mid-January to February to give time to legislators and staff to receive COVID vaccines. A big thank you to all our advocates that took action on alerts throughout the session – your voices are making a difference!
