The Healthy Choice Just Got a Little Easier, Oklahoma!

Senate Bill 506, signed into law by Governor Mary Fallin on April 25th, has established the Healthy Food Financing Initiative (HFFI) to incentivize the availability of fresh food throughout Oklahoma. The program is intentionally broad to encompass a wide array of retailers, including full-service grocery stores, corner stores, mobile markets, and farmers markets, depending on the specific needs of the community.

The American Heart Association has taken an active role in reducing the rate of obesity and obesity-related diseases that lead to heart disease, heart attack, and stroke by advocating for legislation that addresses the lack of food access many of our communities in Oklahoma face.

Take a minute to tweet a thank you message to lawmakers who provided leadership on Senate Bill 506, making the HEALTHY choice the EASY choice by ensuring every Oklahoman has access to fresh and healthy foods.
