The fight goes on in West Virginia!

The recently concluded legislative session certainly was a struggle, but your voice made a difference and helped us stop legislation which could have truly set West Virginia back. As we look ahead, we need you to continue speaking up as we continue to work to address tobacco use, heart disease and food insecurity in West Virginia.

While we saw some wins and losses this legislative session, we know that your action made the difference. From fighting to preserve local control of local laws that would put clean air laws at risk to asking for the tobacco taxes we needed to raise for a healthier West Virginia, to fighting for telehealth- you’ve been there telling your legislators what you want in your state.

Well – even though session is over, the fight is not. While we can be proud of the work we’ve done, we did not see tobacco control funding at the rate it should be. We did not see $200,000 to the SNAP stretch fund to address food insecurity. These are things that can be funded through American Rescue Funds Act (ARPA). We need Governor Justice to release ARPA funds to fund tobacco prevention and to fund SNAP stretch programs. These issues are critical to ensure youth and families are given the resources they need to be healthier.

Help by urging Governor Justice to use ARPA funds to address food insecurity and tobacco control programs.

Thank you for your dedication to You’re the Cure and being a relentless force for longer, healthier lives. Let’s continue the fight.
