California legislative session has officially wrapped up and we wanted to share some great news. Three of our top issues passed the legislature and are now headed to the Governor.

In summary:
- AB 2887: Ensures that schools update their school safety plans to include procedures to respond to a cardiac emergency. Exciting news! During the final days of session lawmakers changed the title of the bill and it is now known as the “Heather Freligh Act”, named in honor of our very own advocate and sudden cardiac arrest survivor!
- AB 3218: Creates a list of tobacco products that comply with California's ban of flavored tobacco products.
- SB 1230: Authorizes the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration to seize restricted products under current law during regular inspections of retail stores.
Unfortunately, there is also a bill (AB 1775) that we urging the Governor to veto. This bill will allow cannabis consumption lounges to essentially become restaurants, where food is prepared and served onsite, if approved by a local community. This would put workers’ health at risk by increasing exposure to secondhand smoke.
As always, thank you for your support and advocacy!
