The ordinance is set to go into effect on May 1, 2024 to provide the retailers with time to meet the training requirements of the license. After much discussion, the City Council ultimately kept the complaint-driven compliance check system in lieu of our proposed annual, unannounced compliance check system. The City Council, however, did make a verbal commitment to continue to work with organizations like the American Heart Association this next year to continue strengthening the ordinance and protect Tempe's youth. Your dedication and tireless efforts as volunteers have been instrumental in championing the proposed tobacco ordinance in the City of Tempe, making a significant difference in safeguarding our community's health and well-being. Thank you for your invaluable contributions!
