Advocate Spotlight: Jill Duis
Occasionally I’m asked about my passion for AHA. Why I volunteer, why I believe in the organization and why I travel, speak, walk, jump rope, sponsor and participate. In a society that constantly questions what’s in it for me, I’m happy to share. First and foremost, what’s in it for me is you. Every year I get the privilege and honor of speaking with people young and old about heart disease and the opportunity to tell them my story.

Mary Toso - You're the Cure Advocate
I have become more involved in the American Heart Association in recent years because of my desire to support a health related organization where I can have an impact. There are so many ways to be involved with the AHA and I know I am making a difference for my family, my community and my state.

Advocate Spotlight: Deb Carlson
Deb Carlson is President and CEO of Nebraska Methodist College, and recently joined the Greater Omaha Division Board of Directors of the AHA. Deb says having seen the effects of heart disease and stroke on her family and friends, joining our cause was a very personal decision. "We all have choices to make with our limited free time, and being an advocate for the AHA is a great use of my time and one that I know makes a difference," said Deb. Deb recently shared her story with the AHA.

Erin Starr has a passion for causes that help to improve health outcomes for members of her community and her state. Her interest in the AHA was sparked by being involved in the very first Go Red for Women event in Fairbury. From there, she shares her passion for being healthy and having fun in life! Meet Survivor, Advocate Tamsen Butler
At age 41 I was just about everything I had hoped to be: an award-winning author, a fitness instructor on my way to becoming a certified personal trainer, and a mother to two ridiculously clever children. A year later at age 42 I’ve added a new designation to my titles as a stroke survivor and advocate for the American Heart Association.

Advocate Spotlight: Angie Jorgensen
My wonderful husband, Jon and I together have 4 great children—Alexis, now 21; Garrett, 19; Josh, 15 and Justin 12. Our daughter is working and planning for more school. All 3 boys are currently playing football, and we are going to be cheering at lots of games this Fall! We have a busy family life and feel enormously blessed. But on December 7th, 2012, my life changed.
