The Telephone CPR or T-CPR bill was signed into law by Governor Holcomb! The new T-CPR law will provide training to emergency dispatchers on how to give the caller instruction to provide CPR to a person in need of emergency care.

When there is a cardiovascular event, every moment counts. The sooner CPR can be administered on an unconscious person, the better chance they have for a good recovery. Giving emergency dispatchers the tools needed to help support someone and provide important care before first responders can get there is critical to the health and safety of all Hoosiers.

T-CPR is especially important for folks who live in rural communities where help might not arrive as quickly as you’d like. With the closing of rural hospitals and medical centers, T-CPR can mean someone is able to get CPR earlier and keep blood pumping to a person’s heart and brain to reduce the chance of serious complications from a cardiovascular event.

TCPR has worked too! In places where T-CPR is available, there are stories of people who have been able to keep a loved one alive thanks to T-CPR. Now thanks to the hard work of advocates and community leaders speaking up on this issue, people across Indiana will be able to have access to information that could help save the life of someone in an emergency. That’s the power of action leading to change!
