The sun is shining, the water is warm, and summer is in full swing! The summer season is filled with hot days at the pool, tasty cookouts, family road trips. But, before your next summer fun activity, you should think about your heart.

As you know heart disease is the leading cause of death in the U.S. but you can protect yourself and your family from the risks of cardiovascular disease this summer by embracing a healthy lifestyle.

Some families find it hard to maintain their heart-healthy lifestyle in the summer when they are so frequently on the move. With so many families on the go in New Jersey, we are working on policy changes that can help even the busiest of families. Like providing healthy snack options in vending machines on state property like parks and beaches. It is important that we work provide healthy food and drink options in places where there are often none to choose from. It is our goal to provide families with the ability to make the healthy choice the easy choice even on the go. By following our summer tips and pursuing our policy recommendations New Jerseyans can protect themselves and reduce their risk of disease and stroke all year long.
