Success in the States

Together, You're the Cure advocates and staff achieved incredible public policy victories at the state and local level over the last year. These policies- your successes- move us closer to a world free of cardiovascular disease and stroke.

You can now read about our state and local successes in the Advocacy Pulse: 2012 Legislative Wrap-up.

Mark Schoeberl, Executive Vice President of Advocacy for the American Heart Association, says "we should be proud of our active advocacy presence in all 50 states and the District of Columbia."

Indeed, I feel incredibly proud of all we're accomplishing. Over the last year, our efforts have ensured students will be trained in CPR before they graduate high school, improved the systems of care for stroke patients, eliminated trans fats from schools, expanded opportunities for physical activity, increased funding for heart disease and stroke programs and tobacco cessation programs, and raised tobacco taxes. We still have a lot of work ahead to bring these and other policies to all our states.

Mark wraps up his letter, "Together, we are the architects of a healthier future."

Enjoy this overview of your state and local accomplishments. I hope it leaves you feeling very proud of the lasting impact you are making and inspired to tackle the work the lies ahead!
