Stroke Hearing

The first steps to launching an Acute Stroke System of Care for Minnesota had its debut this week at the Legislature. HF 672 & SF 598, a bill allowing for designation of stroke hospitals based on capacity. The bill is bipartisan and passed out BOTH the House and Senate HHS Policy Committees this week unanimously! We have another couple of committee stops before the floor, but the work of the American Heart Association and the MN Department of Health over the last 3 years has led to a supportive very community. Al Tsai, Joanie Somes and Dona Lindsey all helped out by testifying in support of the bill this week and our fantastic authors did a great job of presenting the bill – Rep. Tina Lieblng/Sen. Kathy Sheran. This bill may seem small or that it doesn’t do much, but it’s the crucial first step in rolling out a Stroke System designed for MN by MN.
