State Lobby Day Kicks Off Today

We are excited to welcome nearly sixty You’re the Cure North Carolina members to Raleigh for the 2013 NC AHA You’re the Cure at the Capitol State Lobby Day.  Activities kick-off today with an advocacy training that provided an in-depth look at our top issues, advocacy skills building focused on sharing your story and how to have an effective legislative meeting, and tips on taking great photos so you can capture your day at the legislature!  Then there was time for advocates to get to know each other better and prepare for their day of lobbying at the NC General Assembly tomorrow.

This is the sixth consecutive year that You’re the Cure North Carolina hosted a state lobby day.  Each year the event has grown and this year won’t be an exception.  In addition to participating in advocacy training, advocates will be able to attend the House Health and Human Services Committee meeting on Tuesday and participate in a News Conference with lawmakers in support of House Bill 105/Senate Bill 98: Require Pulse Oximetry Newborn Screening.

Day one of North Carolina State Lobby Day was truly a success!  We look forward to seeing all of our volunteers again early tomorrow morning as we travel to the General Assembly.
