Richard comes to the AHA after serving as the External Affairs Director for The Nature Conservancy in Wyoming from 2015 to 2020. Prior to that, he held a similar position with the Wyoming Outdoor Council for eight years. Richard has worked collaboratively with others to balance energy development with conservation as well as the intersection with healthy living. To quote Richard, “South Dakota is a beautiful state with amazing natural resources and remarkable people. I look forward to working with everyone in the state on our obligation to save and improve lives. I am excited to be joining the American Heart Association and have the opportunity to work with You’re the Cure advocates and our elected leaders to build a healthier South Dakota.”
Richard, a Wyoming native, lives in Lander (and looks forward to relocating soon to Cheyenne) with his wife, teenagers, three dogs and two chickens. He enjoys reading, staying up on current events, history, running, cycling, camping, hiking, fishing, and endless home remodels. Richard is incredibly excited to join the AHA to continue to help make a difference for people.
Please join me in welcoming Richard!
