Momentum is building on the Smoke Free Little Rock campaign!
American Heart Association volunteers and staff have been hard at work speaking with some of Central Arkansas's most prominent medical organizations on behalf of the Smoke Free Little Rock coalition. Fifteen groups now have either signed a letter of support for the campaign or are actively participating in the coalition. "The Coalition is continuing to reach out to to businesses and organizations in the community, and we are showing the Little Rock Board of Directors that there is broad support for a comprehensive smoke-free workplace policy," said Dr. Jennifer Knight, the Smoke Free Little Rock coalition chair.
Organizations now supporting the campaign include the American Heart Association, American Lung Association, American Cancer Society - Cancer Action Network, Americans for Nonsmoker's Rights, Tobacco Free Kids, the Coalition for a Tobacco Free Arkansas, the Arkansas Tobacco Control Coalition, Pulaski County Medical Society, Arkansas Medical Society, UAMS, Arkansas Children's Hospital, CHI St. Vincent, Baptist Health, and CARTI. If your organization would like to join our campaign, please email Heyward Whetsell at firstname.lastname@example.org.
You can also email Heyward if you would like to volunteer for the campaign, or you can click here to email the Little Rock Board of Directors and let them know that you support a comprehensive smoke-free workplace policy, so that no one in our city should have to choose between their healt and a paycheck!
