A light rain didn’t seem to dampen spirits at the Power & Light District, during the Kansas City Heart Walk, where thousands began to walk Saturday morning for cardiovascular health.

Ashley Cockman and her 8-year-old son, Noah, attended the walk along with an estimated 9,000 others. Noah was born with Ebstein’s anomaly — a rare defect in which a valve of the heart does not work properly. “It’s great to see everybody out here supporting everyone who was born or who has struggled with heart disease,” Cockman said. “It’s probably one of the biggest issues right now in adults and children.”

Minutes before the walk began, Noah and other survivors were called up to the stage to share their stories with those on hand. Read more about it here: http://www.kansascity.com/news/local/article151719967.html
