It’s that time of the year, right before the New Hampshire Legislative session kicks off, when lawmakers are readying themselves for the issues to come before them starting in January. The American Heart Association has been sending information to our You’re The Cure network on the policy issues of importance to preventing or managing heart disease and stroke risk factors. In turn we hope advocates will share this information with their district lawmakers. It is vital to continue to put our issues out in front of our senators and representatives to seek their support for policies of importance to heart and stroke patients and their families. Another way to even more effectively make our point, is to share our personal experiences with our elected officials. Whether as a survivor of heart disease or stroke, a caregiver of a patient or as a friend or family member touched by another’s experience, we have impactful stories to tell. Stories, that when shared, most effectively highlight the need for strong policies to make our communities healthier to live in and for more coordinated systems of care for time sensitive heart attack and stroke treatment. Do you, or someone you know, have a story to share?
