Throughout his medical career, Dr. Marx has been involved with the battle against heart disease. With over 20 years of experience as a pediatric cardiologist, he recognizes the impact childhood obesity is having on children today and will continue to have if the trend is not reversed and prevention doesn’t become a priority. That is why Dr. Marx feels that he has a responsibility to share his expertise and concern with legislators. Dr. Marx, who currently works at the Children’s Hospital in Boston and serves on the AHA Founders Board of Directors, shares his message of prevention with his state and national lawmakers. To help reinforce the message, Dr. Marx feels that legislators must hear from his peers in the medical profession as well as heart and stroke survivors. He shares his experience of visiting legislators in person to board members and stresses the importance of visiting elected officials when an important piece of legislation is pending, to underscore the potential impact on the health and well-being of their constituents.
