Save Your Spot: You're the Cure Southeast Chat, Oct. 9

The American Heart Association has been advocating for decades to prevent and reduce tobacco use, a major risk factor for heart disease and stroke. Unfortunately in recent years, e-cigarettes, hookah, and other tobacco products - especially those with flavors including menthol - have gained popularity, particularly among kids and young adults. Our work is more important than ever. Join us for our next You're the Cure chat on Monday, October 9th at 12 p.m. ET / 11 a.m. to learn more.

We'll hear from Nicole Olmstead, AHA Sr. National Advocacy Consultant, about current advocacy efforts to end tobacco use and nicotine addiction and why it's an important issue to take action on. We also will speak with Suhaas Bonkur, AHA Georgia Advocacy Committee member, about how he's seen first hand the need for us to speak up for policy change. Smoking remains the leading preventable cause of death and disease in the United States, killing more than 480,000 Americans each year. With You're the Cure advocates, we can speak up for policies that help everyone live longer, healthier lives.

We host these 30-minute monthly calls on the second Monday of each month at 12 p.m. ET / 11 a.m. CT to provide you with a behind-the-scenes look at the American Heart Association's advocacy efforts and to share effective ways to grow as an advocate.
