You’re the Cure Day at the Capitol

As an advocacy intern, I had the privilege to travel to South Dakota’s State Capitol in Pierre on February 2nd for You’re the Cure Day. We served a heart-healthy breakfast to the legislators in the House and Senate Chambers. They were all very appreciative of having a healthy breakfast option.

Advocacy Day

During our time at the legislature, we were able to talk with the lawmakers, raise awareness about the work of the American Heart Association, and teach people hands-only CPR. There were also many members of the legislature that participated in Wear Red Day! It was fun to learn more about the Association’s policy issues, and I really enjoyed learning more about the legislators and how to have meaningful conversations with them.

SD Advocacy Day

It was a great experience, and I loved having the opportunity to engage with all the wonderful people that serve the state of South Dakota.
