Register below to join us for a virtual Relentless Together Chat on Global Advocacy on Tuesday, December 6th at 1:30PM Eastern! During this 30-minute training, we will introduce you to AHA's global advocacy work and you will learn:

  • Why and how we engage in global advocacy
  • Hear directly from volunteers with global advocacy experience and learn ways you get involved

Even if you can’t make it on December 6th, please register for this important training. We plan to record the training session and will email a copy, along with helpful tips and more to everyone who registers.

Guest Speakers:

Lisa Deck

Lisa is a four-time stroke survivor who has over two decades of experience as a patient activist and keynote speaker for stroke, heart disease and rare disease. She is a leading advocate for health policy at the local, state, and federal levels. Lisa is a former - Go Red for Women National Spokeswomen for the American Heart Association and has served as an Advocacy Board Member for the American Heart Association in Boston and Southern New England. She is a widely known advocate voice that inspires others and raises awareness of heart disease, stroke and Moyamoya disease.

 

Pariswi Tewari

Pariswi Tewari is an American Heart Association youth health ambassador and current advisory board member for the Tobacco Endgame. While studying Integrative Human Biology at UC Berkeley, Pariswi founded the college health advocacy organization, "Heart at Berkeley" (formerly "You're the Cure at Berkeley"), in 2020. This was the first student organization to focus on engaging with the AHA's “You’re the Cure” virtual advocacy network, and supporting local community health campaigns. Through the AHA, Pariswi presented her organization's efforts at the 2021 World Congress of the International Association on Adolescent Health, in a talk entitled “The Tangible Impacts of Virtual Health Advocacy: Making Health Policy More Accessible Among Youth Through Virtual Interventions”. 

 

Diana Vaca McGhie

Diana Vaca McGhie has over 20 years of experience working in leading nonprofits on various aspects of their mission delivery. Her public health experience is primarily in the areas of non-profit capacity building, international relations, business development and advocacy. She serves as the American Heart Association’s liaison with multi and bi-lateral organizations and is the portfolio lead for global advocacy. In her current role, Diana brokers and builds strategic alliances to improve public health outcomes with associations, the private sector and philanthropic organizations and crafts public health policy informed by sound data and implementation science. Diana brings a solid history of implementing inclusive and equity programming, managing and overseeing projects in over ten countries and brings a unique perspective to grassroots mobilization and civic engagement.
