This past year marked a significant milestone for the American Heart Association (AHA) as we embarked on a mission of paramount importance: to enhance the safety and health of our communities by advocating for broader access to Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). Our journey led us to the heart of Washington D.C. for a critical advocacy event on Capitol Hill, where our committed team and enthusiastic volunteers rallied together to push for vital legislation.
.
Our advocacy efforts were laser-focused on a life-saving goal: to increase the accessibility of AEDs, especially in schools where their availability can mean the difference between life and death. The need for AEDs in educational settings is critical. Sudden cardiac arrest does not consider age, and the ready availability of these lifesaving devices is essential.
In Washington D.C., our presence went beyond mere attendance. We actively engaged with lawmakers' offices, holding discussions that were both insightful and fruitful. These engagements have begun to yield positive outcomes, showcasing the strength and impact of our collective advocacy efforts.
However, our advocacy efforts extended beyond Capitol Hill. Recognizing the importance of ongoing engagement and education, we conducted a webinar to emphasize the critical role of contacting lawmakers. This webinar was designed to empower our supporters with the necessary knowledge and tools to effectively champion heart health policies. It highlighted the significant impact that each individual can have on policy reform and societal change.
As we look back on the year, it's evident that our journey towards enhancing heart health is a shared endeavor. The progress we've made in advocating for increased access to AEDs in the Eastern States is just the beginning. Our continued efforts are driven by the dedication of our volunteers and the strong support of our community.
Together, we are making a significant difference. Together, we are saving lives. We are committed to maintaining this momentum, advocating for policies that ensure everyone has the opportunity to lead a longer, healthier life.
We are profoundly grateful to everyone who has joined us on this remarkable journey. Here's to achieving even more successes and lifesaving milestones in the future.
In addition to our advocacy, we've emphasized the importance of direct engagement with lawmakers. Making calls to legislators is a powerful tool in our advocacy arsenal. It personalizes our message, making the need for life-saving AEDs in schools a real and urgent matter to those in a position to enact change. We encourage our community to continue this vital outreach, ensuring our voices are heard and acted upon
