Pennsylvania legislative session update

Pennsylvania legislative session is in full swing and we are working hard to get some critical legislation and funding passed to support heart health! Here are some highlights.

Some of you may remember a couple years ago when we passed the CPR in Schools bill. This was a big achievement for us, but unfortunately it was not funded so we need to go back and get the funding needed to make sure that all schools in Pennsylvania have what they need to make sure that all students are properly taught how to provide CPR, a vital life saving tool anyone could need at any time. We are asking the state to provide $750k to this important program, which amounts to less than $5 per Pennsylvanian student.

Another important policy we are working towards is seeing postpartum access to care be expanded to a year after birth. The months after pregnancy can be one of the most medically critical moments in a birthing parent's health. Expanding access to healthcare to a year after birth means that families are able to focus on their health and well-being during these important times.

Locally in Philadelphia, we are working with a coalition of supporters to get water filling stations installed in Philadelphia schools. Providing water filling stations gives better access to safe and clean drinking water, something that can be a struggle in some schools.

If you are interested in any of these policies or more, please contact us so we can get you plugged into our work!
