On June 27, approximately 40 advocates from the Great Rivers Affiliate joined a group of more than 320 at our 2017 You're the Cure on the Hill event, urging lawmakers to #LiftTheBurden.

There were 12 advocates in attendance from Pennsylvania, representing many areas of the state.
Our passionate advocates were discussing support for our four key policy requests:
- We are advocating to Make Heart and Stroke Research a National Priority by increasing the National Institutes of Health budget by 6% or $2 Billion for 2018.
- We are requesting Congress to expand access to stroke telemedicine.
- We are asking Congress to expand access to cardiac rehabilitation.
- Finally, we are asking the Senate to vote no on the Healthcare Bill.
Many of our advocates have compelling personal survivor stories of their own to share, and spoke up on behalf of all patients and families to ensure that ALL Americans, including those yet impacted by cardiovascular diseases and stroke, have access to adequate and affordable healthcare.
We were excited that our own superstar Delaware advocate, Grace Firestone, received the national 2017 Survivor-Advocate of the Year award.
We thank all of our advocates for taking the time and making the commitment to come to You’re the Cure on the Hill 2017! As constituents, you truly make a difference in moving our mission of building healthier lives free of heart disease and stroke forward!
