The American Heart Association in NH supported a bill to offer healthier beverage choices in restaurant kids meals. The bill failed to pass but did provide an opportunity to start discussion among lawmakers and children's health partners over the health risks for children who consume too many sugary beverages. Sugary drinks are the top source of added sugar in children's diets. Busy families eat away from home more and more, and kids will benefit from increased access to healthier drink choices on children's meal menus. We need to create an environment where the healthy choice is the easy choice for families.
