There are so many worthy priorities that we advocate to our legislators for, and we hope that they see the value and prioritize them during the legislative process.

Right now, important budget negotiations are happening that will impact the potential success of three of our bills to improve public health:

  • A sugary drink excise tax, which can help raise at least $368 million for key programs, like clean drinking water, across the Commonwealth.
  • Healthy food access for underserved communities provided by the Massachusetts Food Trust.
  • Tobacco prevention and cessation program funding

We believe these initiatives will provide for a healthier citizenry in Massachusetts, bring in critical revenue and will save health care dollars.
