Oregon 2020 Legislative Session Update

As you know the Oregon legislature has a short 35-day session this year, so things are moving very quickly. Legislative session started on February 3 and will end on March 8.

Because this is a short session, it makes it tricky to pass new legislation, but we continue to work on securing funding for healthy food access initiatives, as well as tobacco control measures, like tobacco retail licensing, comprehensive flavored tobacco restrictions and prohibiting online sales of e-cigarettes, at both the state and county level. Currently we are working on a number of bills that have been introduced to help address the youth vaping epidemic.

If you would like to know more about our efforts and how you can be involved, please feel free to email me at [email protected]. Also, please keep an eye out for emails with opportunities to message your state or local lawmakers about these issues.

Thank you and I hope we can count on your support as we continue our fight to keep our children safe from tobacco and nicotine addiction.
