One Step Closer to a Healthier Wyoming!

On Monday, the Joint Revenue Committee voted 8-6 to sponsor a $1.00 per pack tobacco tax increase for the 2018 Legislative Budget Session. Three proposed amendments failed: one would have made the increase 30 cents, another would have made the increase 50 cents, and the final would have removed other tobacco products from the bill.

Testimony in support of the bill was given by Mary Lynne Shickich on behalf of the American Heart Association | American Stroke Association, as well as from Jan Cartwright with Wyoming Primary Care Association, Jason Mincer with ACS-CAN, and Toni Decklever from the Wyoming Nurses Association. The Wyoming budget session convenes in Cheyenne on February 12, 2018 and lasts 20 days.
