Here are some quick facts about a CERP:
- It can increase survival rates from cardiac arrest by 50% or more.
- Heart disease is a leading cause of death in the US. CERPs help protect staff and fans as well.
- It is estimated that more than 23,000 children under the age of 18 experience cardiac arrest outside of a hospital each year in the United States. Almost 40% of these events are sports-related.
- With about 49.5 million students enrolled in U.S. public schools in pre-K to 12, about 3 million teachers in the public school system, plus numerous staff, it is important for school facilities to have a plan in place to address cardiac arrest.
