The NH legislature passed a bill in 2018 to study healthcare reimbursement for telemedicine and telehealth. A legislative committee will meet soon to solicit information and testimony from stakeholders relevant to its study. Telestroke is an important tool for healthcare providers treating stroke patients in the acute setting. Through the use of interactive, video conferencing, a stroke patient in a hospital that does not have in-house stroke specialists, can be connected to high quality evaluation and treatment for stroke through telestroke services. Telestroke is very important to a coordinated stroke system of care in New Hampshire, so the AHA will be participating in this study process to ensure telestroke is discussed.
