Mississippi Heart Disease Survivor Speaks at the United Nations

Tonya Ware had no idea when she collapsed with sudden cardiac arrest in 2006 that one day her story would take her all the way to the United Nations in New York. In June, Tonya Ware joined other thought leaders from around the world to speak and share ideas on how to make the world a better, healthier, and more accepting place for all.

Tonya said, "It was an amazing experience to be included in a forum with leaders from around the world, including the United States, China, Nigeria, London, the Middle East and many more regions of the world." Some topics discussed were Human Rights, Foreign Intelligence and Security, The Cure for Cancer." Tonya spoke on the "power of a spark", the value of living a healthy lifestyle, discovering one's gift, and using your gift to be a catalyst for positive change in the world.

Tonya is serving in her second year as a member of our Mississippi Advocacy Committee. She shared more information about herself last year with us. Read her blog post from October 2017.
