Pastor Tonya Ware represented the State of Mississippi. She felt that "anticipation was high as 326 patient advocates, scientists, researchers and more came together to rally for continued, robust funding for the National Institute of Health."

She describes the rally as "a day of focus and meaningful communication with lawmakers as stories of illness and triumph were told." And Pastor Ware has a story to share! In 2006, she went from being a multi-million dollar corporate executive and singing starlet to dead in her master bathroom after suffering sudden cardiac arrest. Against all odds, she survived and fought through debilitating physical handicaps and heart-health challenges to reclaim her life.

The Senate Appropriations Committee - chaired by Mississippi Senator Thad Cochran - has proposed a $2 billion increase to the NIH. To help that become a reality, we need to make sure all members of Congress hear from us. Email your Senators now! Pastor Ware dreams that "all Americans will one day enjoy the best care and treatments they need to live life to the fullest due to innovative research that is well funded for many years to come!"
