Starting next month, you can expect to receive a higher number of You're the Cure alerts from us, helping you to learn more about our efforts at the state capitol and to reach out to your legislators for their support.
Our top priority will be to protect the heart health of new moms. We will urge the Mississippi Legislature to extend Medicaid postpartum coverage from 60 days to 365 days following birth, in order to help moms address health issues that are discovered during pregnancy or resulting from pregnancy. Sadly, more than one in three maternal deaths occur following birth, with cause-specific mortality from heart disease and stroke being highest in the 6 weeks to a year after giving birth. That's why this policy change is so important!
Here are key dates for us during session:
January 3: The 2023 Regular Legislative Session will convene at 12 p.m.
January 12: Join us for our YTC Mississippi Legislative Session Kick-off Call at 11 a.m. CT to learn more about our efforts at the state capitol and how you can help. Sign up here!
April 2: The 2023 Regular Legislative Session will end.
