We are excited to share that legislation designed to help Montanans with the greatest need access healthier foods has passed through both chambers and is headed to the Governor for his signature! This bill provides funding to increase access to fruits and vegetables for families on food assistance by supporting the Double SNAP Dollars program that doubles Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) participants dollars to purchase locally grown produce. We appreciate your support earlier in the session on this important bill, it was not easy to pass, and we need your help to ensure the Governor signs it.
Please message Governor Gianforte and ask him to sign HB 235 into law!
We want to make sure all families have access to fruits and vegetables. We know a healthy diet rich in fruits and vegetables helps lower the risk of chronic conditions, including heart disease, high blood pressure and stroke. Providing funding for this program will help do that.
