As you may know, there's been some changes to our team across AHA due to Covid-19 affecting all nonprofits. While we'll miss our former team members, we won't change our commitment to our advocates or to issues that matter most to us all. Our Government Relations Director, Tina Zuk, will be supporting West Virginia and continuing our mission to be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives. We wanted to introduce Tina to you!
Tina Zuk is the Government Relations Regional Lead for the American Heart Association based in Vermont. She holds a BA in Management and Leadership from St. Michael’s College and has over 20 years of experience in communications and public health advocacy. She first joined the AHA in 1999 and has nearly 13 years of experience with the AHA over 2 stints.
Tina previously served as Vice President of Advocacy for the former New England Affiliate and has been the Government Relations Director in VT for the past 8 years and regional lead for the past year overseeing NY, PA and WV. She is currently promoting nutrition standards for restaurant kid’s meals including removing sugary drinks as a default beverage for those meals.
Tina has worked on successful campaigns to establish Vermont’s Tobacco Control Program, increase Vermont’s cigarette tax, pass legislation requiring smoke-free bars and restaurants in Vermont, provide Vermonters with protection from liability when using AEDs (automated external defibrillators) and require CPR training in schools.
Her previous roles include Press Secretary for Congressman Bernie Sanders, Coordinator for the Coalition for a Tobacco Free Vermont and Public Information Director for the Northeast Dairy Compact as well as news director for Vermont radio stations, WFAD, WCVM and WMOO.
Tina's expertise will be a great asset to our work in West Virginia. Please join us in welcoming Tina to our team!
