Meet Tonya Chang

We’re excited to announce that Tonya Chang, Senior Director of Government Relations for Kentucky and West Virginia, has been promoted to Vice President of Field Advocacy for the Great Rivers Affiliate states of Delaware, Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. As a registered nurse and invaluable American Heart Association staff member of nearly 14 years, Tonya brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to her new role.

Over the years, Tonya has helped secure several public health policy successes, including pulse oximetry screening for newborns, stroke systems of care, CPR training for high school students and telephone CPR training for 9-1-1 telecommunicators. Her success has been widely recognized, and Tonya’s expertise has earned her the respect of her colleagues, AHA volunteers and legislators alike.  

Prior to joining the American Heart Association, Tonya spent 10 years working in state government in the areas of health policy and advocacy. She enjoys fitness, reading, shopping and travel, and lives in Lexington, Kentucky, with her husband, Daniel.
