Sarah comes to the American Heart Association from the office of State Senator Richard Briggs. She previously served as the Government Affairs Director for the Tennessee State Employees Association and as the Government Relations Executive at the University of Memphis. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in political science and public policy from the University of Southern California, and she has a graduate degree in strategic communications from the University of Tennessee at Martin.

As a seasoned advocate and government relations professional with over 20 years of experience at the local, state, and federal levels of government, she has advocated for a variety of policy issues.  These include Medicaid expansion, addressing the opioid epidemic, and federal and state appropriations.  Most recently, she partnered with Smokefree TN to pass the 2022 law allowing local governments to prohibit smoking in venues for adults over 21.

Sarah is thrilled to join You’re the Cure in building a healthier Tennessee.

I am honored to be part of this incredible organization, looking forward to getting to know all of you, and excited to get to work advocating for policy focused on improving the health of all.”

You will soon be hearing more from Sarah about what’s in store for 2023 in Tennessee. If you’d like to reach Sarah, you can email here.
