At age 15, Megan and her family were told that a virus had attacked Megan’s heart, causing serious, irreparable damage. Little did she know how much worse it would get.

Seven years later, doctors recognized that the condition of Megan’s heart had grown dire. She was put on a transplant list. Although allowed to go home, Megan’s health continued to get much worse. Two months later, after having surgery to be put on a bridge-to-transplant LVAD machine, on April 18, 2010, Megan received a new heart and a second chance, and seven more years with her family.

On Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at 2:40 am, Megan, and her husband, welcomed a beautiful baby girl “Eilee Kate” to their family. Nathan and Megan got to be together with Eilee for about 6 hours. Shortly thereafter, Megan developed complications and sadly, she passed away an hour later.  Megan’s courage was inspiring and amazing. Read her complete story here.
