With nearly 15 years of experience in Illinois politics and state government, and the Illinois legislative session well underway, Lauren has hit the ground running. She previously served as Chief of Staff at the Illinois Department of Insurance and as Senior Strategist for Illinois State Comptroller Susana Mendoza.

During her time in State Government, Lauren helped craft insurance regulation legislation to make health insurance more affordable and accessible, especially during the pandemic, as well as legislation to increase transparency in government spending.

Lauren shares, “As a mother, I look forward to working on common sense legislation and policy initiatives that aim to improve the health outcomes of our children and all Illinoisans.”

Midwest born and raised, having lived in Kansas, Illinois and Michigan, Lauren is a graduate of Hope College, where she played women’s soccer. Lauren stays busy hanging out with her family, reading, following University of Illinois sports way too closely (she’s still upset about the 2005 Illinois Men’s Basketball Championship game), triathlons, and keeping up with local and national current events. She lives in Evanston with her wife, daughter and dog Banjo.
