Joining forces with professional chefs from across West Maui, students at Lahainaluna High School learned quite a bit about healthy eating.  After a few weeks of healthy cooking lessons, the Teens Cook with Heart Program culminated with an “Iron Chef”-style competition. Teens competed with teams of other students, all using the same ingredients to prepare a healthy multi-course meal that was judged by a panel of celebrities including local food writers, their principal and professional Maui chefs.

As we know, childhood obesity has more than tripled in the past 30 years. To help reverse this trend, the AHA developed the Kids/Teens Cook with Heart program to teach students of all ages how to prepare healthy meals and embrace a healthier lifestyle. This program can do so much to help teach the next generation! If you would like to help us reach even more students on the Island of Maui, visit our MobileCause page for more information on how you can donate to make this happen!
